Just for fun...

If René Magritte had designed a beer mat, it would probably look like this...
In fact it is designed by Smirnoff and - apparently - only for that same brand.

The back side of this german Eichbaum mat says:

"Aroma hops? Isn't Aroma located in Italy?"

Only a few of many funny Hoegaarden mats
Only a few of many funny Hoegaarden mats

In 1995 Belgian brewery Hoegaarden asked their customers to send their ideas so they can put them on a beer mat... and Belgians proved their great sense of humor. If you speak french or dutch you should definitely check out the Hoegarden mats on this site.

With these 'communication-improving' mats, you can order new drinks, the bill or even a Taxi without saying a word. You could also put the 'alcohol-free' sign in front of your glass.

In case you'd use them after a long night it's nice to see that Goldochsen reminds you that there's good alcohol free beer too and - most important - to order a Taxi instead of even thinking to drive yourself after drinking.

"Peter, could you switch off the light, please?

The customer asked for dark beer!"

No further questions required with these Feldschlößchen mats:

"A Feldschlösschen? - A Dresdener!
No Feldschlösschen? - No Dresdener"

Ulmer Goldochsen again.

Unfortunately it's impossible to translate these german wordplays.
